No. The exam is non-invasive and generally painless. A sonographer applies gel to your chest and moves a small transducer across the skin to capture images of your heart.

If you already have an order from your physician, we'll use it. If you don't, our clinical team can coordinate an appropriate medical evaluation before scheduling. An echocardiogram is performed only when properly ordered and clinically appropriate — if it isn't the right test for your situation, we'll tell you and point you toward the appropriate next step.

A resting echocardiogram does not directly rule out coronary artery blockages. It evaluates heart structure, pumping function, valves, and blood flow. If your symptoms or results suggest that additional testing is appropriate — such as an ECG, stress test, coronary CT angiography, or a cardiology consultation — we provide documented referral guidance.

A qualified physician interprets your study and a written report is typically delivered within 24–48 hours to you and your referring provider. Significant findings receive documented follow-up instructions.

The program is a flat $799, all-inclusive. That covers the examination itself (the technical component), the physician's interpretation (the professional component), your copy of the written report, and delivery of the report to your referring provider. You'll sign a clear self-pay agreement before your visit explaining exactly what's included; any additional testing or consultations — such as a cardiology visit if one is recommended — would be separate.

The scan itself typically takes 30–45 minutes; plan for about an hour at our center. No special preparation is required for a resting echocardiogram — you can eat, drink, and take your usual medications as normal. Comfortable, two-piece clothing is easiest, and you'll be given a gown for the exam.

Occasionally image quality can be limited by factors like body habitus. If that happens, our team will discuss the appropriate next steps with you. If the clinical review determines an echocardiogram is not appropriate for your situation, you are not charged the examination fee.

People with a clinical reason to evaluate heart structure or function — for example, high blood pressure, a heart murmur, shortness of breath, leg swelling, an abnormal ECG, known valve disease, prior chemotherapy, a family history of cardiomyopathy, monitoring of previously identified findings, or a physician's recommendation. It is not intended as a routine annual test for otherwise healthy people.
