Our Technology

When Every Pixel Matters

Powered by the United Imaging uMI 550 Digital PET/CT platform

Our center uses the United Imaging uMI 550 Digital PET/CT, a modern digital imaging system designed for high-resolution molecular imaging and precise diagnostic evaluation.

Advanced digital detectors and motion-correction technology help produce clear, reliable images—even during shorter scan times.

Clinical Applications

What PET/CT Can Detect

PET/CT helps physicians evaluate a wide range of conditions by identifying metabolic activity throughout the body—especially when conventional imaging does not fully explain symptoms or findings.

Cancer detection and staging

Treatment response monitoring

Tumor recurrence evaluation

Inflammatory disease

Infection

Neurologic conditions

Unexplained symptoms

Indeterminate findings on MRI or CT

Your physician will determine whether PET/CT is appropriate for your specific clinical needs.
How It Works

What is Digital PET/CT?

PET/CT combines metabolic and anatomical imaging into a single scan. CT imaging provides detailed structural information, while PET imaging shows how tissues function at the molecular level.

Before the scan, patients receive a small injection of FDG (fluorodeoxyglucose), a radioactive tracer that behaves like glucose. Because many diseases—including cancer—use glucose at higher rates, FDG PET imaging helps physicians detect abnormal metabolic activity and precisely locate it within the body.

FDG is produced in specialized facilities before your appointment and administered in a very small dose prior to imaging. After the injection, you'll rest comfortably in a private room while the tracer circulates—typically about 45–60 minutes—before the scan begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is PET/CT used for?
PET/CT imaging is used to detect cancer, evaluate treatment response, identify inflammation or infection, and investigate symptoms when other imaging tests are inconclusive. It combines metabolic imaging with CT anatomy to precisely locate abnormal findings.
How should I prepare for a PET/CT scan?
Preparation depends on the clinical indication. Patients are typically asked to avoid eating for several hours before the scan and to follow the instructions provided at scheduling.
How long does a PET/CT visit take?
Most visits take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, including preparation, a resting period after injection, and imaging.
Will I have to wait before the scan?
Yes. After the FDG injection, you'll rest in a private room while the tracer circulates. This typically takes about 45–60 minutes before imaging begins.
Is PET/CT safe?
PET/CT uses a small amount of radioactive tracer that is considered safe for diagnostic imaging. Radiation exposure is carefully controlled and comparable to other advanced imaging tests.
When will I receive my results?
Results are typically available within 24–48 hours. Reports can be shared with both patients and referring physicians when requested.
